Fuel Management System Assistant Manager


Van Manen Petroleum Group, a West Michigan based company specializing in commercial fleet fueling services, bulk fuel supply, and lubricant solutions, is seeking a Fuel Management System Assistant Manager.


This full-time, salary position that will be responsible for assisting with all activities in the department.  This role will be instrumental in ongoing projects and will cross train with all department roles.


The FMS Assistant Manager will work closely with Customer Service, A/R Specialists, Sales team, and reports directly to the Director of Operations, Fuel Management System with the opportunity for advancement to Director level.


Specific Responsibilities:

·         Assists with the supervision of customer service, accounts receivable and site maintenance which includes recommendations for hiring, performance evaluation, training, work allocation, and corrective action

·         Assists with the record keeping of all site assets and equipment.  Becoming a Certified Michigan Underground Storage Tank A-Operator and adhering to Michigan Department of Environmental Quality standards, health and safety policy, and other requirements relating to care of equipment

·         Maintain customer database for billing, receivables, communication, and information

·         Assist with customer pricing and margins to facilitate the development of profitable business and sustainable relationships

·         Assists in the annual budget planning process and regularly monitors expenditures

·         Analyzes and appraises market and competitor activities

·         Communicate with other departments and vendors to establish and maintain effective and relevant activities and support in relation to the organization’s overall operating functions

·         Manage ongoing projects including planning, budgeting, overseeing, documenting, organizing, and maintaining files and databases


Experience/Required Skills:

·         Planning, organizing, and ability to pay attention to detail

·         General knowledge and understanding of sales and customer service

·         Ability to maintain records and complete reports as required

·         Self-starter with the ability to solve practical problems and effectively communicate detailed information to multiple audiences with differing knowledge levels

·         Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively

·         Analytical and problem solving skills

·         Strong written and verbal communication skills

·         Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook

·         General knowledge and understanding of Mainframe computer


Preferred Skills:

·         Management experience with team working/building skills

·         Knowledge of retail petroleum industry

·         Experience with CRM tools

·         Experience with Project Management

Transport and Tankwagon Driver

Van Manen Petroleum Group, a West Michigan based company specializing in commercial fleet fuelingServices, bulk fuel supply and lubricant solutions, is seeking a Transport and Tankwagon Driver on the day shift.
This full time position is responsible for the loading and safe, accurate, efficient delivery of fuel products using both transport and tankwagon trucks with a focus on superior customer service. 
Position Summary:

  • The Driver will safely transport various grades of gasoline and diesel fuels to retail, commercial, and unmanned fuel sites throughout Michigan.
  •  Complete pre-trip and post trip inspections, complete log books, and prepare trip records to accurately document each day’s work.
  • Determine blend rates and calculate ratios for the proper addition of fuel additives and or supplements and accurately document for billing purposes.
  • Provide exceptional customer service and maintain a schedule ensuring timely and safe deliveries.
  • Maintains customers’ tank lids to proper color coding ensuring correct deliveries.


  • CDL-A with HazMat & Tanker endorsements & experience in airbrake operations.
  • Ability to maintain active DOT physical card.
  • At least two years of driving experience with hazardous materials.
  • Possess strong work ethic, reliability, and place a high level of importance on safety.
  • Excellent math and measurement skills including the ability to accurately calculate and apply concepts of mathematics such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Possess ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
